One of the major benefits of joining School of Transformation is having the opportunity to be part of the Father’s House Church community. Students live and work with our staff, giving them access to an instant support network that soon feels like family.
It’s hard to describe what being part of the Father’s House is like, but many visitors comment that it’s the closest thing to the ‘Book of Acts’ church they have seen. Another common observation is that we’re very “real,” a place where everyone is open and where love and faith are totally genuine. The relationships that students are able to build during their time at School of Transformation become one of the most significant, transformative aspects of their school experience.
Students live in shared, family-style housing with other students and staff of the same sex. Most students will find themselves sharing a room with at least one other person. Every house has a communal living room and ample cooking and laundry facilities. All our housing is located on our campus, within five minutes walk of both the church and the School of Transformation building. Students are also given free access to our incredible 17,000 sq. ft. work out gym - the Lord’s Gym Oroville.
Evening meals are served Monday-Friday at our dining hall, and sack lunches are available during the week on request. At the weekends, students can either cook or eat out in the local area. We also have a food bank that we make available to those needing extra help with weekend food.
Students are not required to live on campus, and some who are local to Oroville choose instead to live at home and pay a reduced fee (see application for further details).
Oroville is located in the Sacramento valley, which has a warm, dry climate with long, hot summers and mild winters. Common outdoor activities include swimming, kayaking and fishing (in Lake Oroville or the Feather River) and hiking at Table Mountain or a few hours away at Mount Shasta.
Oroville is about an hour north of Sacramento and three hours north of San Francisco (depending on traffic). Redding and the famous Bethel Church are under two hours away to the north. The neighboring town of Chico (20 minutes away) is a popular destination for shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and all kinds of weekend activities.
One of the central ministries of the Father’s House is Life Recovery Ministries (LRM), a 12-month residential discipleship program for people struggling with addiction. Our commitment to protect and serve those going through LRM, along with our strong belief in the high standard Jesus calls us to as Christians, does mean that we have to have stricter rules and regulations than you might find at other schools. As an example, we are a 100% alcohol and nicotine-free campus.
